Spiritual Formation Year One:
Drawing Near to God
Year One of Kairos School of Spiritual Formation provides a guided group experience introducing the spiritual disciplines of solitude, silence, prayer, meditating with Scripture, journaling, and shared experience. If interested please contact the Kairos office to request an application.
Objectives
- To nurture people’s desire to deepen their relationship with God, self, and others.
- To explore one's own spiritual roots, to discover those things which inhibit personal spiritual growth, and to claim that which is essential to both knowing and loving God and being known and loved by God.
- To open oneself to other Christian traditions that can increase understanding of God's movement and deepen faith.
- To explore the riches of contemplative life and prayer.
- To be more attentive to God's continuing call, releasing one's gifts into the body of Christ and the world.
Specific Learning Experiences
- Personal sharing of journeys.
- Reading and reflecting upon the Scriptures.
- Reading spiritual literature--classics and contemporary.
- Practicing centering prayer, praying with Scripture (Lectio Divina), and listening prayer.
- Receiving, pondering, and assimilating monthly teachings.
- Exploring the contemplative outward journey.
The Leadership Team attempts to design each monthly gathering as a time of contemplative teaching, shared group experiences, as well as a time for individual listening, reflection, and prayer.
Cost
$1,850 plus $75 registration fee.
Scholarships/Grants
