Approaches to Contemplation

Author James Finley describes contemplative practice as a daily activity one commits to in order to awaken, deepen, and sustain experiences of the Holy.  This class offers support and community for those who already have such a practice in place, and who have ongoing interest in Christian mysticism.  Each weekend, time for participants to share both their response to the readings and the fruit of their own daily practice will form an important part of class time.  Group sessions will be spaciously paced and carefully scheduled to allow ample time for solitude and silence.  Although not requried reading retreatants will benefit from access to Light From Light (An Anthology of Christian Mysticism), edited by Louis Dupre and James Wiseman, Paulist Press.
