Spiritual Formation Year Two:
Prayer and the Contemplative Life
Year Two offers class input, discussion, group prayer, and plenty of solitude time to learn about and practice many kinds of prayer and to explore how our spiritual journey affects the real world of everyday life. Classes begin each September.
Prerequisite
Kairos Year One or equivalent experience in Spiritual Formation.Objectives
- To deepen one’s personal journey and relationship with God through extended times of silence in reflection, meditation, and prayer
- To explore what it means to live more fully from one's relationship with God in everyday life in the world
- To study and experience various prayer forms, individually and in the group
- To identify common experiences of the spiritual journey and to reflect on and articulate one’s own journey
- To be available to God’s ongoing transformation that leads to freedom and wholeness
- To encourage attentiveness to one's ongoing spiritual walk
Specific prayerful learning experiences
- Reading of spiritual literature--classics and contemporary
- Receiving guidance and practice in different prayer forms
- Learning from the study and lived experiences of our team and faculty
- Experiencing extended periods of silence and solitude
- Participating in monthly faith sharing
