Spiritual Formation Year Three: Surrendering to the Mystery: A Contemplative Learning Community
Click here for the Year Three Syllabus
Year Three classes begin in September. The framework for this course is built around understanding and experiencing the transformation expressed in the phrase, "Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 2: 5). What does this look like and how do we move more deeply toward this way of living and being?
I believe this concept and experience is about a transformation of our awareness as we take on the qualities of Christ's mind. This is not new to Kairos. All of our work is about this transformation. In this Year Three curriculum, we will look more explicitly at this work and practice.
Prerequisite
Kairos Years One and Two or equivalent experience in spiritual formation. Objectives
- Contemplative prayer is the heart of our practice. Through silence, contemplative prayer, reading and conversation, (and always expecting God’s Spirit to be at work in us) we will attempt to include the following in this course:
- Increase our understanding and experience of what this transformation might mean
- Explore how various authors and traditions understand and give language to these ideas
- Notice more deeply how this work is already taking shape in our lives
-
Consider additional or different practices that might help us in this transformation
