Spiritual Formation Year Four: Wholly Listening, Wholly Present
Year Four offers an opportunity for alumni to come and discover together what you learned in years 1-3 that will descend it into a deeper way of knowing--a deeper way of being.
Prerequisite
Year Three or equivalent experience in spiritual formation.
Objectives
- Letting the mind descend into the heart.
- Learning the sacred art of listening: to God, ourselves and others.
- Engaging in the group process by wholly listening and by being wholly present.
- Cultivating all that has been learned in formation years 1, 2, and 3 (or equivalent), by nurturing regular spiritual practices and being open to living them out in the world.
- Covenanting with God, ourselves and others in a safe community where listening, reflection and prayer are central.
Options
In each month a full weekend is offered, from Friday dinner at 5:45 pm through Sunday lunch, ending around 1:30 pm. Advent Day, in December is a one day retreat that begins at 9 am - 4 p and includes lunch.
Faculty
Marlin Good completed 30 years of teaching and administration in private and public education in 2005. Marlin has served on the Blossom Hill Mennonite pastoral team for six years and has completed his Spiritual Direction Training program at Kairos in 2011. In addition to his love of teaching he has taken classes in pottery and has been honing his skills in writing poetry. He has a home restoration business. Formerly of Washington DC where he was a member of Rolling Ridge Study Retreat Center, he now lives with his wife and 17 year-old son in Lititz PA.
Maggie Robbins is a certified spiritual director, earning her certification through the Kairos: School of Spiritual Formation. She is still active within the Kairos community as a spiritual director and a member of the faculty. Nationally and internationally, she has provided spiritual direction and facilitated retreats for groups like Youth Specialties and Simply Youth Ministry and the Presbyterian Church of Ireland. She also maintains a private practice from her home in Valley Forge PA. She is the co-author of Enjoy the Silence.
Payment Schedule
Option 1: The cost is based on five months (September, November, January, March and May plus Advent Day in December. (Please note that we will not be able to offer a refund for any missed weekend, nor will the weekend be transferable to another person.
Option 2: Three optional Silent Retreats may be added during the months of October, February and April. During these three silent retreats we will meet for group spiritual direction on Saturday morning. (Please note that we will not be able to offer a refund for any missed retreat.)
