Retreat in Everyday Life
According to The Spiritual Exercises of Ignatius of Loyola
Classes will consist of didactic overview of the Retreat in Everyday Life (The 19th Annotation), as well as supervision of directors who will be taking a directee through the Spiritual Exercises.
FACULTY
Barry Young, MA
Graduate of Chestnut Hill College in Holistic Spirituality and Spiritual Direction as well as a graduate of the Jesuit Center’s Training Program for Spiritual Direction in the Ignatian Tradition. He has years of experience as a spiritual director and as a professor at Chestnut Hill College graduate spiritual direction program, teaching the giving of the Spiritual Exercises.
Peg Cromer Greiner, MA
Graduate of Chestnut Hill in Holistic Spirituality and Spiritual Direction and holds a masters degree in Nursing Science from University of Arkansas. She is an experienced spiritual director who gives the Spiritual Exercises and will assist in leading the class.

PREREQUISITES FOR STUDENTS
- Basic knowledge of scripture, theology, and demonstration of an understanding and practice of the Spiritual Life
- Trained Spiritual Directors with experience in spiritual direction
- Written recommendation from spiritual direction supervisor or peer supervisor
- Full completion of Ignatian Spiritual Exercises with written recommendation from the Spiritual Director giving the Exercises
- Interview by Instructors and Kairos faculty member (as needed)
- Evidence of holistic maturity, inclusive of spiritual maturity and life experience
- One Directee ready to take the Spiritual Exercises
EXPECTATIONS
Acceptance into the program does not guarantee graduation. Throughout the program, students will be evaluated on course expectations which include:
- Participation and Attendance
- Preparation for class as well as written work (meeting deadlines, quality, format, writing guides) required for course completion
- Direction of one person through A Retreat in Everyday Life, requiring a weekly meeting with that directee after the course begins
- Openness to the Spirit and the ability to recognize, respond to, and articulate religious experience/spiritual movement
COST: $1550.00
