Silent Retreats
Silent retreats are an opportunity to intentionally settle in and open up ourselves to the heart of God. Because our lives are often filled with the hectic expectations that shape us, we rarely have time to enter into silence long enought to notice the movement of God.
These retreats are designed to help you notice and respond to that movement of God. Retreats are designed to support those who are brand new to silent retreats as well as the seasoned retreatant--and everyone in between.
Facilitator: Sharon Landis, who is a spiritual director, writer, retreat leader, was also a student at Kairos for five years, including spiritual direction training. She cares deeply about the emotional, spiritual health of individuals and churches, and desires to live a life of simplicity, reverence, community, mellowness of heart. She lives with her husband on a farm in Lititz, PA, is an avid reader, and lover of children, animals, poetry, art, gardening and nature.
A Full weekend retreat option begins at dinner time on Friday at 5pm and ends with Sunday lunch. Each retreatant will be assigned a spiritual director. Meals and lodging provided. Contemplative group prayer is offered several times throughout the weekend.
A Saturday-only retreat option begins at 9am and ends at 4pm. It includes the same components as the full-weekend retreat. Lunch is provided (no lodging).
A Weekday retreat when offered begins on Wednesday evening and ends at lunch on Friday.
Silent retreats are held on the quiet, picturesque grounds of the Jesuit Center, 501 North Church Road, Wernersville, Pennsylvania, 19565. The retreat center is situated west of Reading and encompasses 260 acres of rolling hills and woodland, with facilities that include individual bedrooms, numerous chapels and private conversation rooms.
Cost
Full weekend option: $215, includes lunch and lodging. Saturday only retreat option: $65 (lunch/no lodging). For spiritual direction received during silent retreats, a small monetary gift is suggested to be given to the director as the cost of the weekend does not entirely cover appropriate fees.
